SWOT Analysis Tool

Strengths are positive and internal. Weaknesses are negative and internal. Opportunities are positive and external. Threats are negative and external.

In integrated planning, SWOT (internal Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats) analysis is a valuable method to use in the Discovery and plan Development phases. The planning group can complete a SWOT to identify areas on which to focus plan goals and objectives. SWOT can also be used to evaluate the planning process itself as your plan moves through each of the planning phases. This kind of SWOT provides a “snapshot” of how well the process is working. This resource provides an overview of the SWOT model, and a template and examples for completing a Snapshot SWOT analysis for each of the five phases of the Integrated Planning process.
