This IEPI Workshop was designed for secondary and postsecondary partners, and the agenda was shaped by key questions that they raised about dual enrollment implementation. Information shared was designed to support the development of new and the scaling up and strengthening of existing partnerships with a focus on students from underrepresented groups. Participants (1) learned about relevant research, (2) discussed implementation challenges and barriers, (3) shared promising practices and models, and (4) reviewed legislative guidelines. Special attention was paid to similarities and differences for AB 288 College and Career Access Pathways (CCAP), and non-AB 288 partnerships. CCAPs support community college and school district partnerships to create seamless pathways from high school to community college as part of their college and career readiness efforts, even for students who may be struggling academically. Non-AB 288 partnerships are guided by previous legislation that allows high school students who have been shown to benefit from advanced scholastic or vocational work to enroll in community college courses with parental permission.
